Meet in the Park

Pioneer Medical Group have set up a Saturday group at Blaise Castle, to support anyone struggling with their physical or mental health or for those who just want to be out in the fresh air.

Words don't do this justice, watch our 2 minute video here to see what it is all about!

When is it?

Most Saturdays, rain or shine, meeting at 9.00am by the café at Blaise Castle. (Blaise Castle Estate, Kings Weston Rd, Bristol, BS10 7QS).

If you want to join us for a walk, do come for 9.00am - we then meet for tea/coffee and biscuits between 9.45am and 10.30am.

Do I need to be able to walk?

No!

Anyone can come, bring crutches, wheelchairs, babies, dogs, friends.

Our event runs alongside the Blaise Castle park run for those who do want to run or walk 5km, but most of our Pioneer Moments group do not do this.

Do I need to pay for this?

No, the event is free!

  • Tea, coffee and biscuits are free
  • Free t-shirt for all who attend

The car park at Blaise does charge but we are hoping to get some parking permits from Bristol City Council, please let us know if you need support with parking charges.

Please also let us know if you need support obtaining suitable footwear.

How is this all free?

We have support from a wonderful local charity, Moments.

Parkrun Collage

Did you know that a recent National review has found moderate exercise to be a better treatment for depression than antidepressants or talking therapies?

This does not have to be vigorous exercise, low intensity exercise such as walking is also beneficial. And so is meeting other people and getting out in the fresh air.

You can combine these and join Dr Cary and some of the Pioneer team at Blaise Castle's weekly Parkrun - No running is needed!
