We at Pioneer Medical Group take pride in supporting the local community. You will usually find one of our partners at community forum events adding a voice to local issues. Take a look at our Facebook feed to find local events and campaigns that we are supporting.

Park Run
Green Impact

Pioneer Medical Group is proud to be taking part in the Green Impact Awards this year recognising that climate emergency is one of the biggest threats to public health.

This scheme aims to make general practice more sustainable, reducing our impact on the environment. The World Health Organisation has identified climate change as the biggest threat to global health in the 21st century, and as a leading healthcare provider it’s important that we lead by example.

We are even more proud to say we have achieved Gold status in the past and are working to maintain this level this year.

Dementia friendly swimming sessions

Bristol City Council offers dementia friendly swimming sessions at Henbury and Horfield Leisure Centres. Dementia friendly swimming sessions are quieter sessions at swimming pools with trained staff and appropriate facilities. You don’t need to be able to swim for these friendly sessions. They are for people of all abilities and if you want advice please speak to pool staff at the Leisure Centres.

The accessible swimming sessions are in a safe, supportive environment with:

  • staff specially trained by St Monica Trust
  • improved signage
  • larger, unisex changing booths
  • constant temperatures of 27 to 30 degree
  • If you’ve a carer they can come swimming for free.
  • If your carer doesn’t want to swim then most pools have a space at the poolside or in a viewing gallery where they can sit.

You can read more here or contact your local leisure centre for more details.
